These days, everybody is a photographer. With cell phone cameras and editing apps that create beautiful images with the touch of a button or two, it only makes sense. It makes me happy to see so many people inspired to create lasting memories through photography. For me, photography and writing go hand-in-hand. Receiving my first camera as a Christmas gift at the age of 13, I fell in love instantly. However, it wasn't until the long nights spent in the basement of the College of Communication writing, photographing and editing for The Marquette Tribune that I fully appreciated the art of photojournalism. Since those days, I've spent the better part of my life with a camera and note-taking device on my person so I could properly document the most significant happenings I stumble upon, be they annual events or subtle intimate moments. I believe that photojournalism speaks in a language that most people can understand, and it is truly my calling to connect others through the stories it tells.
